Top International Business Schools

From the top international business schools list, ranked first is Boston's Harvard Business School.  Among the feedback from those polled, the comment was: Harvard gets the best, the brightest and the most. The school is recognized for teaching leadership, and offering an excellent network. They say Harvard graduates have a good balance of smarts, skills and EQ.

Producing future leaders

Only two schools based outside of the United States made it to the top 10. But other foreign-based institutions were also cited for their MBA programs.

The other nine in the top international business schools are:

Stanford Business School - The school is credited for its focus, investment and skill base in entrepreneurship and for doing things a different way. Stanford graduates are described as bright, collegial, technically strong and a huge asset wherever they serve.

University of Pennsylvania (Wharton)  - the school offers 18 specializations, the largest faculty of 200 professionals, an intensive core curriculum and encourages students to learn new ways of thinking.  It provides hands-on learning methods so students practice leadership on a daily basis.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Sloan) - Its MBA program is comprised of a unique combination of case studies, collaborative team projects, lectures, live case discussions, interactions with industry leaders, and hands-on lab classes, all of which work together to provide students with world-class business skills and real-world experience to prepare for the future.

University of Chicago (Booth) - offers full-time, evening, weekend and executive MBA programs. Their formats are the only difference but the objectives are the same: prepare the students to solve the greatest business challenges. The full-time MBA is a 21-month program that offers a flexible curriculum that will allow students to specialize or not.

Columbia Business School - made it to the top international business schools list because their MBA program focuses on skills, initiative, hard work and creating opportunity for its graduates. The curriculum incorporates theory and technique to be able to practically apply what has been learned in school. The program instills a complete entrepreneurial mindset for its students, harnessing their ability to recognize opportunity and to seize them.

Northwestern University (Kellogg) - the school offers part-time, full-time and executive MBA programs. It has placed emphasis on leadership and teamwork in its programs. It is said that Kellogg teaches collaboration and determining an individual's role in an organization. It is also a school where students have a very good grasp of marketing, because they were taught to be people-oriented.

Management on a global scale

INSEAD (Institut Europeen D'Administration Des Affairs) - this business school has a dual campus structure: one in Fontainebleau, France to serve as its European campus, and the other in Singapore. Its MBA program runs parallel in both campuses, and both have world-class faculty in residence.  Their accelerated 10-month curriculum has been known to produce successful, thoughtful leaders and entrepreneurs who create value for their organizations and communities.

Darthmouth College (Tuck) - this New Hampshire-based school is noted for opening career opportunities for its graduates, and combining rigorous coursework with experiences requiring teamwork, while being able to merge valued traditions with innovation.

London School of Economics - While the school does not offer a traditional MBA program, its masters degrees in accounting, finance and management were considered to be the equivalent. It likewise offers a double degree/joint program, in partnership with foreign-based institutions.

For management, LSE has its Joint TRIUM Global Executive MBA with NYU Stern School of Business and the HEC School of Management in Paris. The school has the most international student body in the world, thus deserving to be one of the best international business schools.

There are several other institutions that can qualify to be among the best graduate business schools. And while the criteria for the best is usually based on the quality of graduates they produce, success is still largely dependent on a person's goals and determination to succeed.

So whether you get into one of the top international business schools or not, you make your destiny.
